What We Do

Five focus areas. One child at the centre of all of them.

We don't run these as separate verticals. A single child in one of our programme villages can move through all five, because that's how their actual life works.

Education

Better enrolment, safer classrooms, and real learning outcomes.

  • Better enrolment rates, and a shrinking dropout and gender gap
  • Stronger fundamentals: reading and numeracy that hold up over time
  • Safer learning spaces through BaLA, sports, libraries and play-based activity
  • Capacity building for teachers and school management through ongoing training
Health & Nutrition

Care that starts before a child ever reaches a classroom.

  • Community awareness on child and maternal health
  • Guidance on child feeding, care and nutrition
  • Better immunisation rates, with real follow-through
  • Focus on the first 1,000 days, when development matters most
  • Coordination between ICDS, health departments and the community
Child Protection

No child should have to navigate harm alone.

  • Community awareness against child abuse and violence
  • Working to eliminate violence at home, school and in the neighbourhood
  • Real avenues for child participation, not token ones
  • Training, workshops and campaigns on child rights
Livelihood

Because family income decides what choices a child has.

  • Mentorship, guidance and financial support to start a business
  • Workshops and training on financial literacy
  • Encouraging youth toward entrepreneurship
Crisis Response

When disaster hits, children can't be the ones who wait.

  • Basic supplies, hygiene kits and groceries for children and families
  • Child-friendly spaces that keep children protected and still able to play and learn
  • Continued teaching and learning support through disruption
  • Active protection from harm and abuse in vulnerable situations
Current Programmes

How this plays out on the ground

Three programmes carry most of our day-to-day work, each one designed to touch more than one of the five domains above.

Programme 01

School & Community Leadership Development

We work with government and private schools to build both the building and the people in it.

School Behaviour

Capacity-building training and workshops that strengthen how teachers actually teach.

Infrastructural

Libraries, BaLA wall art, sports facilities and smart classes that make a school worth showing up to.

Community Behaviour

We push for "gaon ka school" over "gaon mein school": a school the village owns, not just one that happens to sit in it.

Programme 02

Play to Learn

Education shouldn't only transmit what's already known. It should grow how a child thinks. With Toybank India, we build play stations that target mathematical learning, language learning, socio-emotional development and creative thinking at once. Our first play station went up at Divine Public School in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh.

Programme 03

Premanu Fellowship

A platform for change-makers who want to work on educational equity from the inside, alongside school committees, principals, teachers and the community, with regular training and mentorship from our team.

School intervention

  • Onsite support and teacher training workshops
  • BaLA, library, smart classes and playground development
  • Play to Learn activities

Community intervention

  • Community learning centres
  • Remedial classes
  • Play to Learn activities at the community level
